April 1, 2004 – March 21, 2005

 

Wide Orbit Training Sessions for New Hires

 

In 2003, the Program Manager and Traffic Manager were sent to San Francisco to train on a new traffic system. Wide Orbit, the company who developed the system then provided detailed training, computer modules to various personnel in the station. They then followed up by coming to the station to provide classroom training. KPEJ continues to purchase additional training to new Personnel and Account Executives as they are hired.

May 5, 2004

 

KPEJ was a sponsor for the Midland Center Business Expo. Visitors to our booth were given an opportunity to fill out an application for employment and received a pamphlet describing jobs in television broadcasting. Approximately 200 pamphlets were distributed. The theme for KPEJ’s booth was, “Come Grow With Us!”

October 12, 2004

 

KPEJ attended a job fair at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, where we distributed an additional 200 pamphlets and took applications.

 

 

Creation of a pamphlet designed to further the goal of disseminating information about employment opportunities in broadcasting to job candidates who might be unaware of such opportunities.

 

November 8, 2004

 

KPEJ created and distributed 200 pamphlets containing job descriptions in a broadcast television station. The pamphlet contained information on education or experience needed to fill these positions. It was distributed to schools, colleges, employment agencies and various recruitment sources.

March 3, 2005

 

While participating at the Odessa College Job Fair, Yolanda Johnson, with The Permian Basin Workforce requested an additional 50 pamphlets to distribute to Workforce students.

Account Executive Training

 

The General Manager, Local Sales Manager and all KPEJ Account Executives were sent, all expense paid, to a Fox Sales Seminar in Dallas, TX.

 

 

Provide training to management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination.

 

July 30, 2004

 

EEO Training Session

 

In a regularly scheduled Department Head meeting, all attending department managers and supervisors were given information packets containing EEO guidelines. A briefing was conducted concerning the Federal Employment laws regarding EEO guidelines. This session was hosted by Jayne Faltus, Program Manager for KPEJ, and was ended with questions and comments relating to guidelines.

January 4 – 6, 2005

 

After Effects Training Sessions

 

The Promotions Assistant was sent, all expense paid, to KTSM in El Paso, TX. He spent two days training with a KTSM employee on a new piece of equipment.

On his return, he trained other KPEJ employees on the logo player and after effects.

March 15 – 19, 2005

 

Promotions Training

 

KPEJ promoted a Master Control Operator to Promotions Manager.

The newly hired Promotion Manager was sent, all expense paid, to KWKT in Waco, TX. He spent four days training with a KWKT employee on Promotions paperwork and the responsibilities necessary for his new position.
